Tornike Sologashvili studied medicine at Tbilisi State University in Georgia, where he graduated in 2006. He subsequently specialised in cardiac surgery, obtaining his board certification in 2011. He pursued his training across several countries, including Poland, before joining the HUG Division of Cardiovascular Surgery in 2011, where he has built the greater part of his career. In 2018, he was awarded an MD from UNIGE with a thesis on cardioprotection in cardiac surgery, along with a European Board Certification in Cardio-Thoracic Surgery. In 2020, he was appointed privat-docent at the UNIGE Faculty of Medicine for his work on surgical treatments for congenital heart disease, and was named head of the Paediatric Cardiac Surgery Unit at HUG.

His clinical and surgical practice, covering a broad spectrum of complex cardiac conditions, has helped establish the unit he leads as a reference centre in Switzerland. Alongside, he carries out extensive research, teaching and international collaboration activities. He is also involved in humanitarian surgery missions in Africa and Georgia. His career is thus distinguished by a combination of clinical excellence, scientific innovation and international commitment in the field of cardiac surgery. In October 2025, he performed the first partial heart transplant in Europe. He was appointed Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery at the Faculty of Medicine in February 2026.
