I am an applied mathematician who has joined the team lead by Prof Timothy Frayling in 2024.

50% of my time I am working with prof Timothy Frayling, Dr Aurélie Kamoun and Dr Liza Darrous on the link between genetic variants and common metabolic disease such as type 2 diabetes, obesity and related conditions. We use UK Biobank and AllofUS dataset to robustly identify and validate rare variants linked to disease development. As Director of Statistics for the CDGG team, I am also responsible for ensuring robust statistical approaches are applied by the team and that these approaches lead to reproducible research findings

50% of my time is dedicated to Type 1 diabetes. I combine the use of genetic, environmental and clinical risk factors to develop predictive model and identify optimal screening strategy to detect disease progression before onset. My main collaborators are Prof Richard Oram, Erin Templeman, PhD candidate, and Gonçalo Leiria.
