Parent Experience in Autism Services: Pilot Study of Training to Enhance Professional Practice
Hilary Wood de Wilde is a clinical psychologist with over 25 years of experience specializing in neurodevelopment, with a focus on autism diagnosis, early intervention, and inclusive practices. She completed her studies at the University of British Columbia, the University of California, San Diego, and Columbia University, with a clinical internship at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York. Hilary is an accredited Parent Coach and Trainer for the Early Start Denver Model (ESDM), certified by the University of California.
Since relocating to Switzerland in 2008, Hilary has played a key role in developing autism services for the State of Geneva, helping to shape regional approaches to neurodevelopmental care. She served as Clinical Director of the CCSA diagnostic and CIPA early intervention centers, and was a founding committee member of the University of Geneva’s Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) in Autism, where she led modules on Diagnosis and Early Intervention for over a decade.
Hilary is currently pursuing doctoral research as part of a collaborative project between the SMAS Lab (Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences) and the Autism Brain & Behavior Lab (Faculty of Medicine). Her work focuses on exploring the experiences of parents of children with additional needs, with the aim of developing effective training to improve professional practice. Alongside her research, Hilary works in clinical practice with children and families, supervises and trains professionals, and lectures at the University of Geneva.
